Viking Band News! -------------------------- On Saturday, April 24th, Solos and Ensembles from the SVHS Band participated in the KSHSAA State Solo & Ensemble Festival at Andover High School. The following solos and ensembles received a Division I Rating (Superior): Rachel Bellah, alto saxophone Jacob Johannsen, trombone Paul Masterson, trombone Clarinet Choir Brass Ensemble. Congratulations! -------------------------- On Wednesday, April 14th, the SVHS Concert Band participated in the KSHSAA State Large Group Music Festival, hosted on our campus. The Concert Band received Division I Ratings (Superior) from all three judges. Congratulations to all SVHS Band Members for a very successful day. -------------------------- On Saturday, April 10th, Solos and Ensembles from the SVHS Band participated in the KSHSAA Regional Solo and Ensemble Festival at Barton County Community College. The following solo and ensembles received Division I Ratings (Superior) qualifying for the State Festival: Emma Flynn, flute Rachel Bellah, alto saxophone Jacob Johannsen, trombone Paul Masterson, trombone Flute Quartet #1 Clarinet Choir Brass Ensemble Congratulations! -------------------------- On Wedensday, March 3rd, the SVHS Band Traveled to Bethel College, for the MCAA League Music Festival. The Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble received Division I Ratings (Superior) from all three judges. Congratulations to all SVHS Band Members for a very successful day. Ratings for Ensembles are as follows: Brass Ensemble: I Clarinet Choir: I Flute Quartet: I Flute Trio: I Again, congrats on a job well done. -------------------------- Congratulations to GRACE ASPENWALL, and SARA ANDERSON for being selected as members of the Kansas Music Educators Association State Honor Band. These students will perform on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Century II Concert Hall, Wichita, KS. This year also marks the third year that Sara has been a member of the KMEA All-State Band, the most that any student can be in the All-State Band. Sara will receive special recognition at the concert for this endeavor. Congrats Grace and Sara! -------------------------- Congratulations to GRACE ASPENWALL, SARA ANDERSON, EMMA FLYNN & LORI JAMES for being selected as members of the SCKMEA District Honor Band. These students will perform on Saturday, December 5th, at Wichita State University. Congrats Grace, Sara, Emma, and Lori! -------------------------- Congratulations to JACOB JOHANNSEN, trombone, for being selected as a member of the SCKMEA District Jazz Ensemble. Jacob will perform on Saturday, November 7th, at Andover Central High School. Congrats, Jacob! -------------------------- The 09-10 school year is here! A few highlights of this upcoming year include: Trips to: *K-State Band Day *Hyllningsfest! *Bethel College for MCAA League Contest *KSHSAA Large Group Music Festival -We are hosting this festival this year!- The SVHS Band received straight I ratings last year! *Barton Co.
